Two things. The people –everyone is unbelievably talented, knowledgeable, and always open to help anybody that needs it. It’s a true privilege (I mean it) to work in such an environment.
The second thing is that there is always something new to explore. The business is constantly changing and with this, there are new technologies introduced all the time which grant opportunities for learning and growth.
My biggest achievement is the amount of knowledge I have acquired from my colleagues and from the diverse nature of my work (having many roles) for the last 10 years.
From what I have seen, the group has evolved a lot in the last 10 years. I would have to say that the biggest change was that people changed their working place from the office to anywhere in the world. This created a lot of challenges for us in IT. We had to keep services running as usual while making the transition for employees as smooth as possible and keeping good levels of management and security for their assets/accounts.
That would be the transformation of SysAid – the ITSM system adopted in CluneTech. It was this awkward and clumsy system and now it’s on the road to be this central place for requesting all kinds of services(not just IT), like procurement, booking travels, banking accesses, etc.
This proved to be successful to the extent that one of the businesses is now using SysAid to serve their own customers and partners.
All of them have been a pleasure to work on since I was doing it in collaboration with my colleagues. That said, the adoption of Power BI in IT and in the entire organisation was interesting. It was very satisfying to create end-to-end automated reporting dashboards that provide information at our fingertips 24x7.
I have two pieces of advice for new starters. The first one is the one I received when I joined the company 10years ago - “If you do not know something or you are in doubt, just ask and someone will be more than happy to help you”. The other one is to be persistent and remember that opportunity lurks everywhere if you are willing to take the responsibility.
